How We Work

The Green Bride Guide states that the average wedding produces 400 lbs of garbage and 63 tons of CO2. With an estimated 2.5 million weddings per year, that is about 1 billion lbs of trash and as many emissions as approximately 4 people would produce in a year, in just one single day. Petals for Hope’s mission is to help transform the event and wedding industry into a more sustainable one by creating a streamlined and cost-effective donation process.

Having previously worked in the event industry, we understand first hand the stress that comes along with planning weddings and events. The last thing we want to do is to make this process more cumbersome than necessary. We get asked all of the time if our process is really this straightforward…and we are so glad that we can reply with confidence that it is! You can rest easy knowing that we will be handling your floral donation with the utmost professionalism, while also not adding any additional stress or coordinating on your end.

Simple + Sustainable + Kind

Removal + Redesign

Immediately after your wedding or event ends, a team of our trusted team members will remove all arrangements and greenery that would otherwise be thrown away from your event. The florals are taken back to our studio and immediately broken down, recut, and rearranged into 'bedside bouquets'.

Redesign + Deliver

On your behalf, they are delivered to a charity or location of your choice, or to one of our vetted locations. These can include hospice, hospitals, shut-ins, infusion centers, mental health facilities, homeless shelters, and more. We also use donated flowers to host 'therapeutic flower arranging workshops' at hospice care, nursing homes, hospitals and more. The children and adults not only gain a sense of belonging and peace, but also have so much fun during these workshops getting their mind off of their current circumstance.

Recycle

All of the flowers which are unfit for use and leftover greenery are composted. We also return to the delivery locations when possible to remove the bedside bouquets to compost once they are no longer fit to be in the resident's room.

Leftover greenery and broken stems from just ONE wedding. For reference this is appr. 6 feet in length, 2 feet in height and 3 feet wide.

Service Fees

Our fees are based on the size and scale of your event and count’s as a tax-deductable donation alongside the donation of your flowers. The fee covers the coordination and execution of service by our highly professional and trained team members. Following your event, you will receive a report outlining the journey of your floral donation.

You also have the option of table cards to display at your wedding or event explaining to your guests that you will be donating your flowers to our organization.
