Petals for Hope Bring Comfort and Healing

Have you ever witnessed the beautiful flowers adorning a lavish wedding or special event and wondered what happens to them after the big day? A new nonprofit, Petals for Hope, is addressing that very thing by redirecting flowers, plants, and greenery from the trash into the hands of those who need hope. The organization’s founder, Brittaney Sard of Kent Island, started the nonprofit as a temporary thing in 2018 when she was in between marketing and event jobs.

Month-Long Celebration in Honor of International Women's Day, March 8th

To kick-off the month-long celebration, tulip growers have partnered with Petals for Hope to giveaway 1,000 bouquets of tulips to women on the frontline, in nursing homes, women’s shelters, and more. Petals for Hope, a non-profit organization, repurposes fresh flowers after weddings and other events to share them with people in less than desirable circumstances.

Tulips for International Women’s Day

Together with their European suppliers of the flower bulbs, Tulip growers in the United States have organized the annual Tulip Festival to celebrate International Women’s Day for years. Tens of thousands have received bouquets of tulips to enjoy and share.

1,000 tulip bouquets to be delivered to women at Harborview, women’s center

SEATTLE — Monday is International Women’s Day and some ladies in Seattle will be getting a beautiful surprise.

Tulip growers in the U.S. have partnered with nonprofit Petals for Hope to give away 1,000 bouquets of tulips to women on the frontlines and others who are in less than ideal circumstances and need a pick-me-up.

The flowers will be delivered to women at the Jubilee Women’s Center and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Monday morning. A total of 25,000 tulips will find new homes.

This Maryland charity gives wedding flowers second lives at nursing homes and hospices

The candle-lit wedding is over; the guests are gone. Come midnight, all that’s left are a few slivers of cake, some flat Champagne and those stunning floral arrangements that wowed the crowd at Historic London Town & Gardens in Edgewater.

It’s the flowers that Brittaney Sard has come to save. With the newleyweds’ OK, Sard takes them home, reshapes them into bedside bouquets and, the next day, delivers them to folks at Genesis Spa Creek Center, a nursing home in Annapolis.
